What does the position at the poker table mean?
Often the position at the table is crucial! The purpose of this article is to understand how important the player’s position is at the poker table and what information this holds. Beginners in particular often do not know how to use this information, or they do not realize the advantages of better poker positions.
Every poker hand you play depends on where the button is, players who act before it’s your turn, and players who act only after you make your own decision. If another player acts in front of us we know something about him … maybe he folds or he limps … maybe he raises as well.
No matter what the one does, we learn something about him. The more people have acted before us, the more information we can gather before we have to make our own decision. On the other hand, we can only gather a small amount of information if we are early in the game and the other players have to make their decision after us.
